Gaia Manager v2.02 Released

Gaia Manager is out — version 2.02 — which corrects compatibility with older PS3 models and improves start-up time (you’ll notice it’s a little faster now).

Note: The package comes with 3 different versions of Gaia. One of them takes games from the GAMES folder, one from the GAMEZ folder, and one from the BRRips folder. It’s mainly for compatibility with other backup managers. Since most managers now allow you to select where to load your games from (Ex Rogero’s and multiMAN both have these options), it doesn’t really matter which one you use. You only need to install 1 of the 3 packages based on your choice.
V2.02 (3.55 CFW only) Features:
  • Fixed compatibility with old ps3s
  • Improved start up time (it’s faster now)

Facebook for iPhone gets update 3.2.2

Looks Like the facebook app for iphone has got an update again

Does it fix the jailbreak,BiteSMS Problem??

Uh-Oh Looks like PSJailbreak can get Your PSN Banned

Don't go popping that cork off the champagne bottle yet now that PSJailbreak is out. Reports say that there is a chance for the PS3 to detect the jailbreak and thus, consequently, get your PSN account banned, similar to how the XBL does it.

According to SKFU and RichDevX, while you are logged into PSN, the Backup manager game ID (LAUN-12345) could be logged or recorded by Sony. This could then allow Sony to see if you are using the PSJailbreak/clone. As it is, Sony actually does impose bans on both PSN accounts and PS3 systems, resulting to the 800A227 error code.

So if you want to steer clear of trouble with Sony while still enjoying PSjb, it probably would be best if you don't go online and play first to avoid detection

Touch Screen iMac Incoming??

Looks Like Apple's going to make Something Really Cool!

A patent filed by Apple with the World Intellectual Property Organization shows an iMac with a tilting display that can transform on the fly from a standard desktop computer running Mac OS X to something very much like an iPad running iOS. The patent was discovered by Patently Apple, who also revealed the touchscreen MacBook patent profiled here yesterday. Put together, the two patents are a pretty strong indication that Apple is seriously looking at unifying Mac OS X and iOS and has figured out how to do it.

Patently Apple's Jack Purcher is pretty fired up about the discovery of this patent, which he called the "Mother Lode of all information concerning the iMac Touch." And it's certainly true that this would be a pretty cool computer. When it's upright like an iMac, it would run Mac OS X using the keyboard and mouse for control, and when it's laid flat, the system switches to iOS and the monitor becomes a touchscreen. The patent describes the ability to set at what angle the switchover happens: "An accelerometer in the display could sense the force of gravity along an axis, and the measured force could be used to determine an angle of the display with respect to the ground (i.e. the plane perpendicular to the direction of the force of gravity). A transition between input modes could be performed when the vertical angle (tilt) of the display crosses a predetermined angle." The computer could also use a rotation sensor mounted in the adjustable stand or a touch sensor located where you would grab the display to tilt it.

The patent also describes how this technology would be used in a laptop, with the display rotating and laying flat against the keyboard in a way that's reminiscent of convertible tablet/netbooks like the Telsda. The part of the patent that talks about the capability of "operating a peripheral device coupled to the host device" seems to pretty clearly refer to slaving your iPhone to the computer, with functions like "answering a telephone call, placing a telephone call, terminating a telephone call, changing the volume or audio settings, storing information related to telephone communications such as addresses, frequently dialed numbers, received calls, missed calls," and on and on. This means you'll basically have your iOS and Mac OS X worlds completely unified on your desktop.

This information comes with the same caveat as yesterday's patent news: just because Apple has taken out a patent on something doesn't mean there will actually ever be a product based on it. However, this thing sure looks like something Apple would do, it would probably sell like hot cakes, and it looks like it could be built with all off-the-shelf technology Apple's already got. The application was filed a year ago, and to be honest, I'll be more than a little surprised if it doesn't get made into a product rather soon.

Rumor: Mini MacBook Air? (Does it Get Any Smaller?)

Echoing reports from the Chinese electronics industry covered here last month, a financial analyst is saying that Apple's ramping up to manufacture a MacBook Air with an 11.6" screen, to be released in September. BMO Capital analyst Keith Bachman claims in a note to his clients that the new mini-MBA will be cheaper and made in much larger quantities than the current model, which is the opposite of what DigiTimes reported in July. Bachman is also expecting new iPod touch and nano models next month.

The MacBook Air is the one Apple product that hasn't been refreshed recently, with no changes to the slim notebook in over a year. This has led to a steadily increasing number of reports about new models in the pipeline. Bachman asserts, straight out that Apple "will" launch two different 11.6-inch MacBook Air models in September, though he says he is "not yet clear on all the specs." He is predicting a drop in the price, which is currently much higher than comparable MacBook models. The production volume of the new shrunken MBA, according to "supply chain checks" that Bachman says his firm did in China, "could far exceed the current Air, which we believe could suggest lower starting prices.” Though he didn't break it down by product, he says he's expecting Apple to ship just under 3 million notebooks next quarter.

Additionally, Bachman predicts a new, "much smaller" iPod nano that won't have a clickwheel, and may squeeze the iPod shuffle out of the bottom of the product line, and well as the camera-equipped 4th-gen iPod touch that we keep hearing about. As much as this is potentially just hot air, it's important to remember that the people who report to Wall Street are held to a higher standard than tech bloggers: this guy could lose his job if this turns out to be bogus.

Words From Steve Jobs:Software Fix Coming To iPhone 3G

Those concerned with lagging iPhone 3G performance with iOS 4 may soon get some assistance from
Apple. According to a new email from Steve Jobs (as reported by MacRumors), the folks in Cupertino are readying a software update to address the widely reported lack-of-speed incumbent on many iPhone 3G's running the latest iOS. The news follows reports from late July in which Apple openly acknowledged that it was investigating user reports of this very issue.

The information about a forthcoming software update was provoked by a user email to Jobs, who complained of his "dog slow" iPhone's frustratingly degraded "responsiveness" when scrolling, zooming, and typing. "I've waited patiently through 4.0.1 and 4.0.2," the email states, "looking for a fix that will make my phone work again. I've read the forums that advise me to jailbreak my phone or use some other method so I can downgrade back to a version of iPhone 3, however I'm not prepared to use a method that is not supported by Apple."

Steve Jobs responded with a four-word reply that now has many on their toes in anticipation of what has been promised: "Software update coming soon," Jobs advised. Given just how prevalent the iPhone 3G remains among the iPhone user base, Apple is certainly wise to not let these concerns linger and go un-addressed. Although there is presently no projected time-frame for the software fix alluded to by Jobs, "coming soon" is better than nothing, I suppose.

I really Hope This is true Because My iPhone 3G Is really Sluggish
